Progressive Dyke seeks room to rent.
e-mail:
sonya90028@yahoo.com
Hello,
I'm relocating to the Northampton/5 colleges area in mid-June, and I need a room to rent by July 1st, at the latest(preferably sooner). If you could pro-rate the rent from June 25, that would be even better, then I would be willing to start renting then. A room that's at leart partially furnished, is preferable. I prefer a summer sublet, but will also consider a permanent living arrangement.

I'm a politically progressive lesbian in my 40s. I'm looking to rent in a household with other lesbians, or queer-friendly female(s).

I'm and a responsible, hard-working business development professional. I'm also an artist, who paints, draws, and does cartooning. I'm an intellectual, and I have a congenial, flexible disposition. Some of my other interests are; books, meteorology, astrology, astronomy, and listening to good music.

I'm clean (but not obsessively so). I need a non-smoking household. I can't live in a household with a dog(s) (I'm allergic to their hair). Cats are okay though. I'm respectful of others space in a living situation, and can easily make adjustments regarding others needs/preferences in a household.

Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience via e-mail, before June 23rd.

Thanks,
Sonya Spears

Nourishing Traditions House
e-mail: joanhello@netscape.net

1 or 2 rooms, $400 each, available now.

We are: a retired computer programmer, age 52, female; a recent
anthropology/counseling grad and energy healer, age 34, male; and a long-haired indoor cat, age 4, male, fixed. We are seeking two more housemates for a 4-bedroom house with a yard about 3/4 of a mile from downtown Northampton in a fairly quiet neighborhood just off South St., very close to Arcadia nature preserve. Our hope is to make this a place where housemates support each other in living lightly and consciously on the Earth and caring for ourselves physically and energetically. We are seeking mature, straightforward, tolerant, easy going people who are neither total slobs nor neat freaks, and who are community minded and excellent direct communicators. Knowledge of some conscious communication technique such as Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication is a plus. Grounded, creative idealists welcome!!!, but please be quite pagan-friendly, phreak-friendly, etc.

Food is done collectively and is very important to us. We strive to eat a nutrient-dense diet using the guidelines from the book _Nourishing Traditions_ by Sally Fallon, modified for our various allergies and preferences. This includes hunted, pasture raised, or at least organic meat and raw dairy products several times a week. We like eating and cooking together and hope for housemates who will eat at least three yummy meals or so a week with us.

The space is a beautiful little house, all to our selves! We have 10 rooms, with one large room set aside for dance, yoga, massage, healing and similar activities. Our living room is also divided into a library space and a nascent crafting space. The basement also has a dedicated (although long out of use and dusty) workshop space we could fix up and use. There is a dining room, a small enclosed front porch, and plenty of attic and basement storage.

There are two bedrooms available. One is fairly large and its closet ends in a door out onto the roof of the dance room. The other is smaller and lacks a closet (although there is other closet/storage space available throughout the house). Both rooms are upstairs and have hardwood floors. Currently the larger room is occupied by a couple (the folks leaving) who pay $380 per month each (that's $380 and $380 for a total of $760) and the smaller is public space, used now as a computer room. If one person occupies each room, the larger one will probably rent for
$400 and the smaller for $380. Utilities have been running around 60ish a month (gas, electric, cable modem/wireless, trash by Pedal People, etc) but we've only been here since July and don't know what the heating season is like. (The house has oil heat.) However, most of the windows are the good superinsulated kind, so we think it won't be too bad. There are plans for insulated curtains of some kind as well.
There are an elderly washer and dryer that are free except for the energy to run them and we have clotheslines. There is an offstreet parking space available.
